This was one of the more stunning fields that I came across, and it was adjacent to a fairly busy traffic intersection. It also just happened to be what I call the "golden hour," and the yellow late-afternoon light made the tulips glow as if they were neon. The color was just stunning. To photograph this scene, I had to park on the opposite side of the road and needed to walk across the street to photograph these fields.

As I waited at the intersection for a break in the conga line of cars zipping by, I watched what must have been three near-collisions in the span of just a minute as drivers came upon this scene and were mesmerized with the colors. Notably, it seemed it was specifically the out-of-towners who were blown away by the fields of tulips; the locals just seemed oblivious to the grandeur and just wanted to get where they were going. They were obviously a little short of patience judging by the chorus of car horns that sounded as out-of-state cars dipped their speeds well below the posted limits. It's amazing that we can become immune to such an awesome display as this...It's just a reminder of how many things we sometimes take for granted.
