This view is along the trail from Oxbow Bend to Jackson Lake Lodge. This has to be one of the most photographically stunning short hikes I have ever undertaken. I don't know why I have not seen this shot before (maybe the necessity to lug lots of heavy equipment up a steep hillside has something to do with it...) The views from this trail simply do not get enough publicity... The trail starts at the horse stables at the lodge and crosses under the highway, meanders past Christian Pond, then scampers up the hillside eventually to overlook Oxbow Bend. Wow. Our country is stunningly blessed by God. When my wife and I made this hike in September, she nearly killed me as it was quite hot and the midday sun was a bit oppressive (especially with fifty pounds of camera equipment on my back)--but what rewards we were given! We could even see moose down in the waters of Oxbow Bend far below! You should also know that horse rides from the lodge go along this very same path if that mode of transportation suits you better. |
